The food they love to eat are North Carolina insects and grubs. For the prevention of armadillos, you should first vacate your land from caterpillars and insects by pests. No insects, then no armadillos.

FENCING

You should install a fence around a yard. That would be 18 inches deep so that armadillos could not burrow and 45 degrees at the top to prevent jumping of them in the yard.

BUSHES

You should cut off the extra bushes, that will help High Point armadillos to hide and then dig their tunnels under it.

NATURAL DETERRENT FOR ARMADILLOS

After taking your safety measures and still no extinction of North Carolina armadillos, you should then opt for a natural deterrent for them.

CAYENNE PEPPER

You can make your repellent spray by mixing two ingredients from your kitchen cabinets.

Take 5 ounces cayenne powder

Mix it with two-gallon play sand 

Blend it evenly

Then spread it on the ground using a drop spreader

Water the soil so the cayenne pepper would enter underneath

Armadillos do not like the smell of cayenne pepper.

AMMONIA

The pungent smell of ammonia makes the High Point animal run away and never look back. You can make your repellent with these steps:

Take 16 ounces of ammonia

Mix it with 4 ounces of water

Pour water in the mixture

Mix it up in the spray bottle

Spray the ground properly

PREDATOR URINE

The smelling sense of armadillos are strong, so you can buy fox urine from the market and spray it in the yard. Either you can use the urine of your dog as well, like kitty litter.

CASTOR OIL

The tackiness of castor oil makes the armadillos run miles away.

Take two tablespoon castor oil

One tablespoon of dish soap

Mix it with a gallon of water

Pour the mixture directly all over the ground properly

Either use a spray bottle and spritz it all over the flower beds and stems as well

This is the hit method in getting rid of High Point armadillos

CHILI FLAKES

Armadillos do not like the smell of spices. Dust off the chili flakes on the ground, entrance, and pathway of the yard. Having one big whiff will make them say goodbye.

MOTHBALLS

You can use mothballs as naphthalene; it carries a strong odor. 

Crush the mothballs with a hammer

Mix it with water

Spray it thoroughly all over the North Carolina yard
